From 'Wonky' to Wow: How Jonathan Lawrence Worked Wonders on Mini Me

I recently took my daughter, Ava Grace, to Jonathan Lawrence at Turning Point Clinics for biopuncture to help with her ongoing back and knee problems following several horse-riding accidents and her physically demanding job at an equestrian centre. After having a craniosacral therapy appointment with Jonathan myself, I was eager to learn more about his other speciality, and since Ava has always been curious about acupuncture, we thought biopuncture would be well worth a try.

Jonathan started with a consultation to understand Ava’s injuries and medical history. Right away, he noted that her painful knee was a clue to her back issues. He had her stand in front of him to assess her movement, and I was amazed to see how visibly misaligned her body was. Her left shoulder and hip were higher than the right, and her spine had a noticeable curvature - she was most definitely ‘wonky’, as per her earlier self-diagnosis!

Interestingly, Jonathan decided that craniosacral therapy would benefit Ava far more than the biopuncture we had planned. His honesty and integrity really stood out to me - he could have gone ahead with the biopuncture, but instead, he gave Ava the treatment she actually needed and that would benefit her the most. This is what makes our network of trusted businesses so special. Jonathan’s approach is all about treating the individual, not just prescribing treatments without understanding what’s truly needed.

It was fascinating to watch the craniosacral therapy from the other side of the couch. When I received the therapy, I couldn’t see what was happening. Jonathan’s light touch on Ava’s cranium allowed him to detect and correct compression likely caused by one of her falls. He was able to manipulate her spinal fluid rhythm, easing the tension in her back. Ava observed that although he made only slight movements, it felt like her head was being gently stretched much farther than it actually was. He then moved on to her sacral area, working the same way to release tension.

The results were astounding. Ava’s hip alignment visibly improved - even though it wasn’t completely straight yet - but her back still wasn’t as flexible as it might be. Jonathan then applied a traditional  osteopathic stretch - accompanied by a loud, satisfying cracking sound - which gave immediate relief. Again, the improved alignment, flexibility and ease of movement was clear to see. I could hear the incredulity in her voice as she thanked him for making her feel so much better.

Ava described the treatment as incredibly relaxing, though she struggled to find the words for the sensations she experienced. That was so reassuring to hear, as it mirrored exactly how I’d felt. She couldn’t quite describe what was happening because she’d never experienced anything like it before, and she’d never felt so deeply relaxed. It’s as if we need a whole new word for ‘relax’ to capture the sensation!

She admitted when we left that, although she wasn’t sure what to expect from the appointment, she definitely didn’t expect it to work. Ah, the joys of a young, skeptical mind! She was absolutely astonished by the immediate relief she felt, especially after years of medical professionals offering nothing but physiotherapy, which never worked for her. I always told her - like any mum would - that it was because she didn’t do the exercises. Oops, maybe mother doesn’t know best after all!

So, whilst I still can’t speak as to the benefits of biopuncture, I can wholeheartedly recommend Jonathan’s craniosacral therapy for immediate relief from aches, pains, and tension. Ava didn’t expect to walk out feeling pain-free or experiencing the deepest level of relaxation she’d ever felt. Jonathan really is a miracle worker. Hopefully, next month I’ll reporting on the wonders of biopuncture as planned!
